November 13, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, and head coach Rob Murray announced today that the team has signed forward Mathew Sisca.
Sisca, 23, comes to the Aces with ECHL All-Rookie honors and joins the team in time for its next game on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:15 p.m. (GCI Channel 1/KFQD) against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Sullivan Arena. He will wear jersey #22.
"Mathew is a highly skilled and speedy forward with a great shot who adds to our offensive depth," said Murray. "His strengths translate well with our style of play and he can be used in many situations. Adding a player with his credentials was a terrific opportunity that we couldn't pass up."
Sisca has an assist in seven games this season and comes off a 2012-13 year when he led the Orlando Solar Bears in scoring with 48 points (15g-33a) and paced the team with 33 assists in 59 games.
He finished his first campaign named to the ECHL All-Rookie team in 2011-12 when he was second among the league's rookies with 66 points and 43 assists in 77 combined games with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Bakersfield Condors.
Sisca was acquired by Cincinnati from Bakersfield on Jan. 12, 2012 along with future considerations in exchange for current Aces forward Evan Trupp and defenseman Ryan Anneseley.
The 5-foot-8, 175 pound forward and native of Woodbridge, Ontario skated in 241 career junior games in the Ontario Hockey League with Saginaw, Guelph and Niagara with 172 points and 71 goals. As a teammate of Aces defenseman Corey Syvret, he was fourth in Guelph scoring in 2009-10 and earned a career-high 66 points in 68 games. Sisca also ranked second with 36 goals.
Sisca's brother, Daniel, was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team in 2005-06 with the Florida Everblades.
