NASHVILLE- The Arena Football League, on Wednesday, released its 2007 schedule kicking off the 21st season of Arena League Football. The AFL's 2007 schedule will feature two alignment changes (Kansas City Brigade, Central Division) and the return of the New Orleans VooDoo (Southern Division) whose 2006 season was halted due to the devastations of Hurricane Katrina.
The Kats officially start the AFL's 2007 season with a match at home against the Columbus Destroyers (2-0 all-time vs. Columbus) and will be the sole contest scheduled for March 1st. Kickoff for the Destroyers versus the Kats at The Gaylord Entertainment Center is slated for Thursday March 1st at 7:00 p.m. CT. The Kats are 5-2 all-time on opening day.
Nashville concludes its 2007 regular season schedule at home against the Grand Rapids Rampage (5-3 all-time vs. Grand Rapids). The home game will be the fifth consecutive home game at the conclusion of the regular season for the Kats, dating back to 2000.
Out of the 16 regular season games the Kats are scheduled to play in 2007, 10 of those games are against teams that qualified for the postseason in 2006, including two contests each against the past two ArenaBowl Champions (Chicago, 2006 and Colorado, 2005). The Kats will also get a chance to redeem themselves and play three teams they have never beaten: vs. Philadelphia in Week 2, vs. Utah in Week 3 and vs. Kansas City in Weeks 8 and 16. All Game dates and times are subject to change and the AFL's television schedule is to be released in the coming weeks.
"We as an organization and as a team are really looking forward to 2007. We have an exciting home schedule and we compete in a talent-rich division.... it will be fun for players and fans alike," said Kats General Manager Bob Flynn.
