Colorado Crush News Release
DENVER - The Arena Football League and Colorado Crush released their 2007 regular season schedule today. The Crush kickoff their fifth season in the AFL with three straight home contests at Pepsi Center. This marks the second time in team history that Colorado will begin a season with three consecutive home games (inaugural season of 2003).
The Crush's first two games of the year will be against division opponents, as Colorado opens the season on March 4th against the Grand Rapids Rampage. The Central Division's newest member, the Kansas City Brigade, visit Pepsi Center in Week 2 on March 10th. Kicker CLAY RUSH, who booted the game-winning 20-yard field goal for the Crush as time expired in ArenaBowl XIX, will return to Denver as a member of the Brigade.
Other games on the schedule include home-and-home series with the defending ArenaBowl XX champion and rival Chicago Rush, as well as the Nashville Kats. The Crush will also play against all four Eastern Division teams (Columbus Destroyers, Dallas Desperados, New York Dragons and Philadelphia Soul).
Additional 2007 schedule highlights include:
- Four featured Monday Night Football games, including two consecutive to close out the regular season at Pepsi Center (June 18- Chicago, June 25- Dallas).
- Colorado and the Chicago Rush will continue their Central Division rivalry, just this time each team will be representing the last two ArenaBowl champions. The Rush, winners of ArenaBowl XX last season, will host the ArenaBowl XIX Champion Colorado on May 7th. The Rush will travel to Denver for a rematch on June 18th. The games also pit two Pro Football Hall of Famers against each other in Crush Co-Owner JOHN ELWAY and Rush Co-Owner MIKE DITKA. The teams have split the previous eight meetings 4-4. The Crush swept the two-game series in 2006.
- Rock vs. Jock 5 - JOHN ELWAY and the Crush will carry a four-game winning streak into their fifth battle against JON BON JOVI and his Philadelphia Soul squad when the Crush travel to the City of Brotherly Love on Thursday, March 22nd.
- A season finale contest featuring last year's top two teams in the American and National Conference, as the Dallas Desperados (13-3 in 2006) make their first-ever trip to the Mile High city to face the Crush (11-5 in 2006) on Monday, June 25th.
- All 19 teams will play 16 regular-season games over 17 weeks. The playoff system will be the same as 2006 with 12 teams advancing to the postseason. In each conference, the top two seeds will receive byes the first weekend.
