2007 Chicago Rush schedule announced

November 29, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

The 2007 Chicago Rush will begin defense of its ArenaBowl XX title on the road Sunday, March 4, against the Kansas City Brigade, the Arena Football League announced today.

Chicago will kick off the home portion of its schedule on Friday, March 9, when the San Jose SaberCats visit Allstate Arena in a rematch of last season's American Conference Championship game won by the Rush 59-56. The Rush will hold a pregame ceremony to honor the ArenaBowl XX title and unveil its 2006 championship banner. The first 7,500 fans who attend the game will receive a miniature replica of the ArenaBowl trophy, compliments of Discover Card.

Nine days later on Sunday, March 18, the Rush will host the New York Dragons. In a continuing celebration of the ArenaBowl XX title, the first 7,500 fans attending will receive a free replica championship ring, courtesy of Pepsi.

"I'm sure everyone feels they have a challenging schedule, and we're no different," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "It is difficult enough to win a title in the first place, but even more difficult to repeat as champions - and that is our goal for 2007. Only two teams in AFL history have been able to repeat and we are focused on becoming the third."

The 2007 schedule features home-and-home games against the team's four Central Division rivals, including John Elway's Colorado Crush, the Grand Rapids Rampage, Kansas City Brigade and Nashville Kats.

In addition, the Rush will host the Los Angeles Avengers on April 1 and Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul on April 30.

The 2007 Rush home schedule includes one Friday night game, three Saturday night games, two Sunday afternoon games and, new for 2007, two Monday night games.

"We find our 2007 home schedule tremendously appealing," said Rush president/general manager Mike Polisky. "We particularly are excited about the opportunity to host two Monday night games - one against Jon Bon Jovi's Soul and the next against John Elway's Crush. Monday Night Football is an American tradition and we expect very special crowds at Allstate Arena for those games."

Outside the Central Division, the Rush road schedule includes trips to play the Columbus Destroyers on March 24, Dallas Desperados on May 11, Arizona Rattlers on May 26 and Los Angeles Avengers on June 2.
