
Blaze release 2007 season schedule

SALT LAKE CITY - The Arena Football League and the Utah Blaze released the 2007 schedule today. Blaze head coach and general manager DANNY WHITE and his squad will kick off their second season at home against the New Orleans VooDoo on Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. MT at the EnergySolutions Arena.
The Blaze will play a total of eight home games at the EnergySolutions Arena. Seven games will be played on Friday and Saturday nights. Utah will also host a potential nationally televised Monday night game against the JOHN ELWAY-owned Colorado Crush during on June 4 in Week 14.
"We have a very competitive schedule," White said. "The Western Division is one of the toughest in the league. We are excited about getting this season started and looking forward to quest for the ArenaBowl XXI title."
2007 schedule highlights include:
Week 1, the Blaze will open the season at the EnergySolutions Arena against New Orleans VooDoo and will face former Blaze QB ANDY KELLY. Weeks 2 and 8, Coach White, defensive coordinator HUNKIE COOPER, WR SIAHA BURLEY, WR/DB ORSHAWANTE BRYANT, QB JOE GERMAINE, and WR/LB TOM PACE will face their former team when the Blaze battle the Western-Division rival Arizona Rattlers. Weeks 5 and 12, the Blaze will face coach RON JAMES and newly acquired OL/DL STEVE KONOPKA's former team, the Western-Division rival Las Vegas Gladiators. Week 6, the Blaze travel to the Frank Erwin Center to take on the Austin Wranglers and recently traded QB ADRIAN MC PHERSON. Week 11, WR AARON BOONE will face his former team and fellow 2006 expansion team Kansas City Brigade when the Blaze travel to Kemper Arena. Week 14, the Blaze will host the two-time defending Offensive Player of the Year WR DAMIAN HARRELL and the Colorado Crush for the Blaze's first Monday night game in franchise history.
The Utah Blaze were winners of the 2006 Commissioner's Award, given to the Arena Football League's Organization of the Year, and the Best Support Staff Award. The Blaze led the AFL in attendance and qualified for the postseason in just their first season.
