February 8, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- Forward Wesley Myron hasn't played in a regular season of professional hockey since last season because of an injury he suffered during an American Hockey League training camp in October. However, that could change as the forward has signed with the K-Wings and is expected to be in the lineup tonight.

Myron, who started the season in the training camp of the AHL's Utica Comets, began his pro career last year with the K-Wings, earning nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 16 games.

Before joining the K-Wings, Myron, a sixth-round (177th overall) selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft of the Vancouver Canucks, started last season at Boston University, posting three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in 21 games for the Terriers.

Prior to going to Boston University, Myron played five seasons of junior hockey, primary in the BCHL with the Victoria Grizzlies. During the 2011-12 season with the Grizzlies, Myron registered an incredible 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 26 games.

The K-Wings will host the inaugural Van Andel Institute Purple Community Game presented by Lake Michigan Credit Union this evening, Saturday, February 8th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Toledo Walleye.

This game is a continuation of VAI's grassroots fundraising program Purple Community, and raises funds for cancer and neurodegenerative disease research and science education at Van Andel Institute.

Activities for fans during Purple Community night will include a purple photo booth in the concourse, t-shirt giveaways, the opportunity to become a Purple Community member and Mascot Olympics during intermissions. A video featuring K-Wings Defenseman Sam Ftorek and VAI researcher Dr. Jeff MacKeigan will debut during the game to educate fans on the benefits of disease research.

Over a dozen mascots including Paws, the mascot of the Detroit Tigers, will be competing in the K-Wings Mascot Olympics.
