The Jackals are facing the IceMen tonight for the second of five meetings this season and second of two at Ford Center. Elmira is 4-0-1 against Evansville since the IceMen joined the ECHL prior to the 2012-13 season. That record includes a 3-0-0 mark in Evansville. Each of Elmira's wins in Evansville have been come-from-behind victories, and the Jackals averaged 4 goals per game at Ford Center since the start of last year. Elmira is also 3-0-1 in the last four games in which it has surrendered the first goal of the game. The IceMen have been hard to beat on home ice this season and have fashioned a 15-6-4 record at Ford Center. Their 15 home wins are tied with Orlando for 2nd most in the Eastern Conference and third most in the ECHL behind S. C. and Alaska (16). Recently, though, the IceMen have lost their last four at home.
You would never know that Elmira is a member of the Atlantic Division based on its schedule over the last few weeks. Including tonight 11 of Elmira's last 12 games have been played against the North and the Jackals have gone 5-1-2 on the road against the North this season and hold a 6-3-1 home record. Seven of Elmira's next eight games, after tonight, are against the Atlantic Division.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return to home ice on Wednesday, February 12 to take on the Reading Royals. It's a Willowcreek Wednesday where some lucky fans will compete at first intermission to win free golf from Willowcreek Golf Club.
