Road Warriors Slide by Stingrays 4-1

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (30-11-1-2) fell to the Greenville Road Warriors (22-19-2-3) 4-1 on Wounded Warriors Night with SAIC and the USO at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday evening. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Stingrays.

The Road Warriors broke the scoreless tie midway through the second period when forward Andrew Rowe slipped past the Stingrays defense for a breakaway and beat goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (L, 31 saves on 35 shots) between the legs at 10:28. Defenseman Mike Marcou gave the Road Warriors a two-goal lead on the power play at 14:28. Forward Paul Rodrigues put the Stingrays on the scoreboard at 18:01 catching a pass from forward Luke Greiner and tucking in a wraparound past netminder Jeff Malcolm (W, 25 saves on 26 shots).

The Road Warriors added two more goals in the third period to seal the victory. Forward Michael St. Croix forced a turnover and buried an unassisted tally at 1:01 and forward Scott Arnold registered his 13 goal of the season at 19:43. The Stingrays ended the contest 0-for-2 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 1-for-4.

The Stingrays kick off a three-game road trip tomorrow, Sunday, February 9 at 3:00 p.m. against the Road Warriors at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday, February 16 for Kid's Day and Princess and Pirates with Blackbeard's Cove at 3:05 p.m. against the Florida Everblades!
