WET WEDNESDAY / OLYMPICS NIGHT
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After dropping another close decision last night against Toledo, the Cyclones will continue a three-in-three weekend tonight by welcoming in the Fort Wayne Komets to U.S. Bank Arena. The Komets pulled ahead in their eight-game season series by beating the Cyclones last weekend. Since becoming ECHL foes last season, the Clones have gone 5-1-1 against their Hoosier State foes.

SCOUTING THE KOMETS: Gary Graham's club blew a 2-1 lead last night and fell by a final score 3-2 in overtime against Kalamazoo. The ECHL's leading scorer, Brandon Marino, heavily paces the rest of his Komets teammates with 53 points (18 goals, 35 assists) in 43 games this year. He has tallied five times (2 goals, 3 assists) against the Cyclones in three meetings. Former Cyclone Mike Embach had an impressive showing against Cincinnati the last time the teams met; he collected a pair of goals and an assist. Overall in 2013-14, the Ferris State alum has totaled 30 tallies in 39 tilts. Andrey Makarov is Fort Wayne's leading goaltender, sporting a 12-7-2-1 record and a 2.76 goals-against average. He has won both of his head-to-head match-ups with Cincinnati, allowing an average of two goals per game. Ben Meisner has also seen action for the Komets between the pipes; since coming over from Utah, the rookie has a 5-2-2 mark with a 2.33 GAA. Overall, he's 7-10-2 with a 2.50 GAA.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: FEBRUARY 1, 2014: Former Cyclone Mike Embach scored twice as the Komets defeated the Cyclones by a 6-2 final score in front of 6,995 at U.S. Bank Arena on Military Appreciation and Super Hero Night. After trailing by a pair early, the Komets mounted an impressive comeback in the finals two periods, scoring six unanswered goals to secure the win. Netminder Andrey Makarov stayed strong between the pipes, turning aside 26 of the 28 shots he faced in the tilt.
Into the Great White North: This week, the Cyclones continue a stretch of 11 consecutive games against the North Division. And based on track record, that could be a good thing; Cincy is 14-8-1 against Evansville, Fort Wayne, Kalamazoo and Toledo this season.
A Cincinnati Staple: Cyclones forward Dan Eves is the team's longest active tenured player. He is just two games away from passing Sheldon Gorski for sixth on the club's all-time games-played list. The sixth-year pro has 39 goals and 76 assists in a Cincinnati jersey.
