Much Riding On Griffins' Matchups With Moose
March 5, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids Griffins vs. Manitoba Moose TONIGHT 7 p.m. Van Andel Arena Saturday 7 p.m. Van Andel Arena
* Sixty-four games into the AHL season, the Griffins tonight will finally get their first crack at the Manitoba Moose, whom they are chasing for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. Grand Rapids will stage all four meetings with Manitoba in a span of just seven games, and this weekend's two-game set at Van Andel Arena is crucial if the Griffins hope to make a dent in their double-digit point deficit to the Moose.
* This weekend will mark the home debuts of the four newest members of the Griffins: 19-year NHL veteran Brad May, Norwegian Olympian Ole-Kristian Tollefsen, and deadline-day acquisitions Riley Armstrong and Jordan Owens.
* Tonight, the ever-popular Dollar Beers, Dollar Dogs promotion runs from 6-8 p.m., and the first 1,500 fans will receive a Darren Helm Griffins jersey card courtesy of Centennial Securities.
* On Saturday, 2,500 fans will receive a Darren Helm bobblehead thanks to Great Lakes Chrysler/Jeep. The Star Wars Night fundraiser for the Griffins Youth Foundation returns, as more than 50 costumed characters will be roaming the arena and interacting with fans, who are invited to stay after the game for a post-game skate and an autograph session with Belarusian Olympian Sergei Kolosov and Griffins coaches Curt Fraser and Jim Paek. TICKETS: Tickets for both games are available at The Zone at Van Andel Arena and all Star Tickets outlets, including Meijer stores. Call 222-4000 / 800-585-3737 or purchase online at griffinshockey.com.
