Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Chicago Wolves 5-4 in a shootout on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. The win was the Bulldogs seventh consecutive victory and P.K. Subban and Andre Benoit both set franchise records in the win.
The Wolves opened the game's scoring at 12:20 of the first period. Paul Postma received the puck from Jason Krog while positioned at the point. Postma released a shot that travelled through traffic before beating Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.
The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at 16:11 of the first frame. Brock Trotter fed a pass to J.T. Wyman, who carried the puck into the Wolves' zone before sending a cross-ice pass to Ryan Russell, who one-timed a shot past the blocker of Chicago starting goaltender Drew MacIntyre.
The âDogs took a 2-1 lead at 3:20 of the second stanza. Subban carried the puck into the Chicago zone before dangling past a Wolves defender and sliding a pass across to Wyman. Wyman tapped the puck past MacIntyre and into the back of the net. The assist was Subban's 45 point of the season, setting a new franchise record for points by a Bulldogs defenceman in a single season. He surpasses the previous mark of 44 which was held by Yannick Weber (2008-2009) and Sven Butenschon (2001-2002).
Hamilton added its third goal of the game at 12:29. Andre Benoit blasted a shot from the point that was stopped by MacIntyre. The goaltender could not control the rebound, which Glumac batted past MacIntyre. The assist was Benoit's 86th point as a Bulldog which makes him the all-time leader in points by a Bulldogs defenceman passing the total of 85 which was held by Dan Jancevski.
The Wolves made the game 3-2 at 17:07 of the middle frame. Spencer Machacek skated with the puck into the right corner of the Bulldgos' zone before sending a pass to Kevin Doell, who was positioned in front of the Hamilton net. Doell one-timed a shot past Sanford and into the back of the net. Chicago tied the game 3-3 at 16:04. Johnny Pohl and Krog skated in on a two-on-one, where Pohl dished a pass to Krog, who snapped a shot past Sanford and into the net.

Alex Henry blasted a shot from the point that Glumac redirected past MacIntyre. 15 seconds later, Joey Crabb tied the game for the Wolves. Matt Anderson collected the puck in the right corner before centering a pass to Crabb, who backhanded a shot past Sanford.
