Manchester Monarchs News Release
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have activated forward John Zeiler from the injured reserve list and have loaned him to the Monarchs for conditioning. The Kings have also assigned forward Matt Moulson to Manchester, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Zeiler, who will turn 26 on November 21, was placed on the injured reserve list October 3 with a groin strain. Last season the 6-foot, 204-pound native of Jefferson Hills, Pa. recorded one point (0-1=1) and 23 penalty minutes with the Kings. With Manchester last season, he recorded 12 points (6-6=12) and 40 penalty minutes in 45 regular season games and two points (0-2=2) and eight penalty minutes in four playoff games. Zeiler was originally selected by Phoenix in the fifth round (132nd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on February 17, 2007.
Moulson, who turned 25 on Saturday, has played in seven games with the Kings this season, recording one point (1-0=1) and two penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound native of North York, Ontario recorded nine points (5-4=9) and four penalty minutes in 22 games with the Kings. With Manchester last season, he recorded 56 points (28-28=56) and 29 penalty minutes in 57 regular season games and two points (2-0=2) and four penalty minutes in four playoff games. Moulson was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on September 1, 2006.
