Houston Aeros News Release

The Aeros enter the week tied for third place in the West Division with 12 points on a 6-4-0-0 record. Houston hits the road for five games, all against the North Division. Three of the games fall this week against Hamilton, Rochester and Syracuse in a three-in-three weekend. Houston looks to snap its three-game winless streak on the road and against North Division opponents.

The Aeros will visit the Hamilton Bulldogs Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CST. at Copps Coliseum. The game will be the fourth against North Division opponents this season, all of which in Canada. Houston went 1-1-0-0 last season against the Bulldogs winning in overtime at Hamilton and losing in regulation in Houston. The Aeros have an all-time record of 4-2 against the Bulldogs. The teams faced off once during the playoffs when Houston won the 2003 Calder Cup Championship after defeating Hamilton 4-3 in the series.

Houston moves on Rochester Saturday night to take on the Americans at 6:35 p.m. CST. The Aeros hold an 8-3-3-0 record all-time against the Americans with a 4-1-2-0 tally in Rochester. Houston won both contests during the 2007-08 campaign including a 4-0 shutout and a 3-2 overtime win.

Sunday's contest against the Syracuse Crunch at 2 p.m. CST. will mark the ninth game between the two clubs having split the all-time series 4-4-0-0. Houston split the 2007-08 season with the Crunch with each team winning on the road. The Aeros are 2-2-0-0 both at home and in Syracuse in the all-time series.

Friday's 7:35 p.m. game against the Providence Bruins marks only the sixth meeting in team history with the Aeros holding a 3-2-0-1 record. The Bruins are off to a 5-0-1-0 start and lead the Atlantic Division with 11 points. Providence has allowed only 14 goals against through six games, the second fewest in the AHL.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Houston won two of the three home contests this past week taking the home win-streak to five games this season, seven including last year, before having the streak snapped Sunday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The Aeros hosted the Iowa Chops for the first time ever on Tuesday night 3-1 behind a potent power-play unit that scored all three of Houston's goals. Maxim Noreau, John Lammers and Morten Madsen all registered a goal and an assist in the win and Nolan Schaefer stopped 21 of 22 shots in net for his fourth win of the season.

The Houston Aeros remained tied with the Providence Bruins through two periods but took the final period for a 4-2 victory at Toyota Center Friday night. The win moved Houston (6-3-0-0) into a three-way tie for second place in the West Division with Chicago and Iowa at 12 points. The Aeros extended their home-win streak to seven games - five this season - dating back to last year.

After a scoreless first period the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins turned up the heat with a three-goal second period and defeated the Houston Aeros 4-3 Sunday night. The Aeros out-scored the Penguins in the third period but couldn't complete the come-back even with 3:12 of an extra attacker. Krys Kolanos recorded the first Aeros goal of the game for his seventh in as many games played.
