Bears On Top In East Division To Begin November

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club earned three points last week to maintain a hold on first place in the East Division with a win at Albany Friday and a shootout loss at Philadelphia Sunday.

The BEARS continue a five-game road trip this Friday with a game in Albany against the River Rats. HERSHEY also will play Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Saturday, Bridgeport Sunday and Philadelphia on Friday, November 14 on the road before returning to GIANT Center next Saturday to face the Philadelphia Phantoms. The Big "O" takes over: With two goals Sunday in Philadelphia, rookie Oskar Osala now leads the American Hockey League in goals by first-year players. Osala also assisted on Mathieu Perreault's game-tying goal to force overtime, and now has 10 points in 12 games in 2008-09. Osala is also one goal behind teammate Alexandre Giroux for the AHL goal scoring lead.

The long and winding road: HERSHEY is in the midst of a season long five-game road trip, one of two the team will have to endure in 2008-09. The current trip ends November 14 in Philadelphia after games this week in Albany, Wilkes- Barre/Scranton and Bridgeport. The BEARS will also play five straight on the road from December 31 to January 7 in Springfield, Providence, Hartford, Worcester and Norfolk.

Action aplenty: The BEARS lead the AHL in goals scored with 53, and have also allowed a league high 43 in 12 games this season.

Upcoming promotions-The Hershey Bears Booster Club will be hosting its annual Ronald McDonald "Help the House" night on Saturday, November 15 when the BEARS host the Philadelphia Phantoms. The HBBC will be accepting donations for the Ronald McDonald House throughout the game on the concourse.

Washington update-The Capitals will spend Election Day north of the border in Ottawa for a game with the Senators at Scotiabank Place. Washington begins a three-game homestand this Thursday night hosting the Carolina Hurricanes at Verizon Center. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m. The New York Rangers come to D.C. Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
