Columbus Assigns Right Wing Derek Dorsett

Syracuse, NY (November 3, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned right wing Derek Dorsett to the Crunch.

Dorsett, 21, has appeared in 10 games with Columbus this season, posting one goal, one assist and an NHL league-leading 56 penalty minutes. Dorsett tallied his first NHL point, a goal, on October 21 vs. Vancouver. He appeared in 64 games with the Crunch last season, tallying 10 goals, eight assists and 289 penalty minutes.

A native of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dorsett was drafted by Columbus in the seventh round, 189th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch's next game is Friday, November 7 as they travel down I-81 to take on the Binghamton Senators.
