Motor City Mechanics News Release
Fraser, MI â The Motor City Mechanics stopped a five game pointless streak by earning a point in Quad City on Friday night.
Friday, November 19th @ Quad City 2-1, L (Shoot Out): Brad Cruikshank led the Mechanics to a 1-0 lead but at the 16:29 mark of the third period, the Mallards found the back of the net. With the score even at one apiece, the Mechanics picked up one more in the shootout on a goal by Joe Burton. The Mallards notched two to come up with the 2-1 win. In goal, Rod Branch made 26 saves for the Mechanics.
Saturday, November 20th @ Muskegon 6-1, L: The Mechanics fell 6-1 to the UHL defending champs Muskegon Fury on Saturday. Jeff Goldie tallied the only Mechanics goal for the night. Cory Campbell faced 42 shots in his first appearance with the Motor City hockey team, stopping 36 of them.
Sunday, November 21st vs. Missouri 5-3, L: In their return home, the Mechanics went down 1-0 in the early going but Rick Smith put the puck top shelf with only one second remaining in the first period. The Mechanics took a 2-1 lead 14 seconds into the second on a goal by Matt Hunter but the River Otters returned the favor, tying the game at two at the half-way mark. Once again, the Mechanics took the lead in the third period with a Cruikshank tally. The Mallards tied the game at three and then took the lead with just over a minute remaining in the game followed by an empty netter for the 5-3 victory.
Up Next: The Mechanics travel to Flint on Wednesday, November 24th to take on the Generals. This will be the third meeting between these two hockey clubs. The series is currently tied 1-1, with both previous games having been played at the Great Lakes Sports City Arena in Fraser. The Mechanics earned their first victory in franchise history against Flint back on October 29th, a 5-3 win. Just one week later on November 5th, the Generals blanked the Mechanics 5-0.
At The Garage: The Mechanics will return home after Thanksgiving on Friday November 26th when they host the Quad City Mallards. Friday is team photo give night! Fans will receive team photos courtesy of the Macomb Mall and 1130 WDFN. Be sure to stick around after the game to meet the entire Mechanics squad and get autographs on the concourse.
