RiverDogs face busy holiday week

Richmond RiverDogs News Release


The Richmond RiverDogs are now 8-5-1 after going 1-1 last week. The ‘Dogs are fourth in the Eastern Division, three points behind first place Elmira. Richmond plays four games in five nights in four cities this week. The ‘Dogs are back home Sunday.

Wednesday, November 24 @ Adirondack 7:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The fifth of 17 meetings and the third of eight in Glens Falls, NY. The ‘Dogs are 2-2 vs. the Frostbite, 1-1 at Adirondack. David Brosseau and David Hymovitz have six points vs. the Frostbite. Justin Kelly has seven vs. the ‘Dogs. ‘Dogs have been held to under 30 shots in all four meetings.

Friday, November 26 @ Danbury 7:30 PM

GAME NOTES: The fourth of 17 meetings and the third of nine at Danbury. ‘Dogs are 2-1 vs. the Trashers, 1-1 at Danbury. Jonathan Gagnon, David Hymovitz, and Francis Belanger have four points vs. the Trashers. Five Trashers have two vs. Richmond. The two clubs have more shorthanded goals (four) than power play goals (two) in the season series.

Saturday, November 27 vs. Elmira 7:30 PM

GAME NOTES: The fifth of 17 meetings and the third of nine in Elmira. ‘Dogs are 2-2 vs. the Jackals, 1-1 in Elmira. David Hymovitz has six points vs. the Jackals. Greg Koehler has eight vs. the ‘Dogs. Elmira is 7-23 on the power play vs. Richmond (30.4%).

Sunday, November 28 vs. Elmira 5:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The sixth of 17 meetings and the third of eight in Richmond. ‘Dogs are 1-1 vs. the Jackals at the Coliseum. The third meeting in eight days between the two clubs.

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game after one on a pair of David Hymovitz goals. But the Frostbite exploded for five second period goals to earn their fourth straight win. Justin Kelly had a hat trick. Ryan Bennett had two goals and three assists.

Saturday, November 20 vs. Elmira WIN 4-1

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs jumped out with four first period goals, three by David Hymovitz. All of the scoring was in the first period. Jeff Sanger made 32 saves. Hymovitz wound up with four points. David Brosseau also scored for the ‘Dogs.

DOG BITES: The ‘Dogs have the best winning percentage in the Eastern Division at .607. David Hymovitz notched the 'Dogs second hat trick of the year Saturday vs. Elmira. Hymovitz has five goals and eight points in two games since returning from the 'Dogs first call-up of the year to AHL Binghamton. Hymovitz has points in five straight games. Mark Turner has points in six straight games. The 'Dogs fired 32 shots Saturday after they had been held to under 30 shots in five straight games. The 'Dogs are four for their last seven on the power play. Richmond has scored power play goals in three straight games. The 'Dogs play three straight games on the road this week. Richmond plays four games in five nights this week. The 'Dogs had a three game winning streak end Friday. Richmond is in a stretch of nine straight games vs. Eastern Division clubs. The 'Dogs are 6-0-1 when scoring the first goal. Richmond has at least two games in hand on the rest of the East. Hymovitz is tied for fifth in the UHL in scoring. Turner is third in shorthanded goals. David Brosseau is fifth in shots on goal. Ryan Prentice is second in shooting percentage. The ‘Dogs are tied for second in shorthanded goals. The ‘Dogs have allowed four goals in their last three wins.
