Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced Monday that Rockford IceHogs goalie Michel Robinson was named Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for Week 6 of the 2004-05 season. Robinson is the first IceHogs goalie to pick up the honor in nearly three years.

The second year goalie allowed only two goals against the Muskegon Fury and Quad City Mallards, picking off both teams. On Friday night against the Fury, Robinson turned away 30 Muskegon shots to help lead the Hogs to the 3-1 win.

"It feels great to receive this honor because we played Muskegon who was first overall in the league at the time and Quad City, our big rivals," said Robinson. "It felt great to beat those teams.

"The team played very well and has helped me out a lot this season. If I give the guys a chance to win every game, I know they will get me some goals. It gives them confidence when I'm playing well and in return it makes me confident in goal."

Robinson followed up his solid performance on Friday with another stellar game Saturday against the Mallards. The Montreal, Quebec native turned away 38 Quad City shots, including 19 in the third period to preserve the Hogs 4-1 victory. Both goals scored against Robinson this weekend were on the power play.

The UHL honor capped an eventful week in which Robinson was also called-up to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). On Thursday, Robinson served as the Admirals back-up against the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Robinson attended Admirals camp prior to joining the IceHogs this fall.

Robinson's success hasn't been sudden this season. The IceHogs puck stopper is unbeaten in eight straight games (5-0-3) and has a goals against average of 1.63 with a save percentage of .943 over that stretch.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, November 24 vs. Kansas City Outlaws. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs and Outlaws hook up for the second time this season in another Western Division showdown. Bring a non-perishable food item to the game and purchase a ticket, and receive a free $7 ticket to the Hogs December 1 game against the Fort Wayne Komets.
