
Morgan's Six Scoreless, Marabell's Hit Lead to 3-0 Victory

Akron RubberDucks' starting pitcher Eli Morgan threw six scoreless innings and first baseman Connor Marabell drove in a pair of run to lead Akron to a 3-0 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Saturday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
With the game scoreless entering the bottom of the fourth inning, Marabell doubled to right-center field to score Nolan Jones, who walked to leadoff the inning, to give Akron a 1-0 lead
Mound Presence
Akron RubberDucks starter Eli Morgan threw six scoreless innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out six. Henry Martinez relieved Morgan with two scoreless innings and Dalbert Siri earned his ninth save with a perfect ninth inning.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks attack was led by Marabell, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in. In addition to his fourth-inning, run-scoring double, in the sixth inning he flared a bases-loaded single over third base to score Gianpaul Gonzalez. Alex Call followed with a line-out sacrifice fly to complete the Akron scoring. Trenton Brooks also added a pair of hits for Akron and Jones finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk.
Notebook
Marabell's two-hit game is his team-leading 27th multi-hit game. He is hitting .325 (13-for-40) over his last 11 games...Ernie Clement went 1-for-4 and has now reached bases safely in 30-of-33 games dating back to May 9...Morgan's scoreless outing was his first since June 7 at Altoona. Morgan earned his first win since June 13 vs. Hartford, going 0-2 with four no-decisions in the six Double-A starts since then. He has only allowed more than three earned runs in one of 14 EL starts...The shutout win was Akron's first nine-inning shutout win since July 5 at Binghamton (5-0)...Binghamton now leads the season series 11-5 and have won six of nine games at Canal Park...Time of Game: 2:24...Attendance: 7,284.
On the Pond
The RubberDucks conclude its six-game homestand Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and will try and win its first series at Canal Park since sweeping Hartford, June 11-13. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App. LHP Scott Moss is scheduled to make his Akron debut following his acquisition this week by the Indians from the Cincinnati Reds. He's scheduled to face RHP Tony Dibrell (0-3, 9.82) for Binghamton. A roster move will be made to add Moss to the roster prior to the game.
