Richmond Ends Skid by Beating Sens

The Richmond Flying Squirrels snapped their five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Senators Saturday night at FNB Field in front of 5,887 fans. Richmond tallied single runs in three different frames and hung on in the ninth to win the game. The Senators loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth but couldn't get the big hit they needed. Richmond committed five errors in the game and have committed eight errors in the series. The Senators twice left the bases loaded.

On Capitol Hill

Mario Sanchez came off the injured list to make the start for the Sens. He took the loss but pitched well, going six innings and allowing just one earned run.

Austen Williams appeared for the Senators in a big league rehab appearance and last 0.2 innings and allowed a run.

Brad Boxberger retired all four batters he faced and Aaron Barrett pitched around a leadoff base runner in the ninth.

With the Gavel

The Senators had just two hits, singles by Ian Sagdal and Nick Banks.

Even though they had just two hits, the Senators went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.

Filibusters

- Harrisburg leads the season series against Richmond 8-4

- The Senators haven't lost a series to Richmond this season and need a win Sunday to keep that going.

- Austen Williams becomes the 56th player to appear in a game for the Senators this season.
