Moreno added to PCL All-Star team

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- River Cats reliever Victor Moreno will join Outfielder Matt Watson, Manager Tony DeFrancesco and Trainer Walt Horn in representing the River Cats in the 2005 Triple-A All-Star Game, to be held Wednesday, July 13th at Raley Field. Moreno takes the roster spot of River Cats starter Jimmy Serrano, who has exercised an option in his contract to be granted free agency on July 1st.

Moreno was selected by the A's in the Minor League Rule 5 draft, December 13, 2004. As of July 1st, the native of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela was 1-0 with 2 saves and a 2.56 ERA for the River Cats in 2005. This season marks Moreno's second at the Triple-A level, having pitched in 6 games with the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins) last year.

Serrano was signed by the A's as a Minor League Free Agent in November and was 8-3 with a 3.91 ERA in 16 starts with the River Cats.
