Peoria Rivermen News Release
The Manitoba Moose took advantage of a depleted Peoria Rivermen roster en route to a 4-1 win on Tuesday night at Carver Arena.
Missing six regulars from the lineup due to the flu, the Rivermen hastily recalled three players from the IHL and dressed a backup goaltender in Brian Hamilton who had not played a pro game since 1999-00 with the Toledo Storm of the ECHL.
The Moose went to the offensive, scoring the game's first three goals over the opening 40 minutes. Daniel Rahimi opened the scoring with his first goal of the year at 10:33 of the first period, followed by Brad Moran's 11th and Alexandre Bolduc's 12th to make it 3-0 through two periods of play.
Peoria finally found the scoresheet when Julian Talbot notched his 18th goal of the year on the power play at 7:43 from Charles Linglet and Trent Whitfield, getting the hometown crowd into the game. Talbot wristed a shot past Drew MacIntyre (24 saves) through traffic for the goal.
The next few shifts saw Peoria come close to moving within a goal but the Moose held tight to its two-goal advantage before Jimmy Sharrow's shot caromed off the backboards and hit Marek Schwarz on the rebound, ending up in the Rivermen net for the night's final marker.
The Rivermen will now head out on the road for three in a row, starting Friday night in the Quad Cities against the Flames at 7:05 pm. Peoria's next home game will be Tuesday, February 12 at 7 pm when they host the Houston Aeros on a Nesquik 2-for-Tuesday.
