(Pawtucket, RI) - Luke Montz grounded a go-ahead RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning to snap a 4-4 tie and propel the Pawtucket Red Sox past the Louisville Bats, 5-4, on Saturday night in front of 8,529 fans at McCoy Stadium to win their second straight to begin the three-game series.

Allen Craig and Travis Shaw each homered for the PawSox (26-24), while Pawtucket starter Henry Owens allowed four runs (three earned) in six innings but the bullpen combined for three scoreless innings. Montz's hit off of reliever Pedro Villarreal made a winner out of Dayan Diaz (1-1), who earned his first Triple-A victory.

Jackie Bradley, Jr. led off the eighth against Louisville's Jose De La Torre (1-3) with a single to center, then Mike Miller sacrificed him to second base. De La Torre then intentionally walked Shaw before unintentionally walking Craig to load the bases.

Villarreal entered to face Bryce Brentz, who struck out swinging for the second out of the inning. That set the stage for Montz, who grounded his game-winning hit into left scoring Bradley. Shaw was then thrown out at the plate by Steve Selsky to end the inning with Pawtucket in front 5-4.

Dana Eveland allowed a one-out single in the ninth to Ryan LaMarre, but Eveland then induced a double-play groundout from Chris Dominguez to end the game and earn him his second save of the season.

Craig hit a solo shot in the second, his first with the PawSox, to tie the score at 1 against Bats' starter David Holmberg. Then with two outs in the third Shaw drilled a three-run blast to right (4) to put Pawtucket in front 4-1. All three of the runs were unearned due to an error on Louisville shortstop Eugenio Suarez.

Suarez would atone in the top of the sixth by launching a game-tying two-run blast (6) against Owens with two outs. It followed Selsky's RBI single to left that had previously cut the deficit to 4-2.

Diaz pitched two scoreless innings behind Owens in the seventh and eighth. Craig (2-for-2, two walks) reached base four times and was the only Pawtucket hitter with multiple hits.

Pawtucket will look for the series sweep on Sunday afternoon as it completes a six-game homestand. Righty Justin Masterson (NR) is slated to make an MLB rehab start for the PawSox. The Bats are scheduled to go with righty Jon Moscot (6-1, 3.35).

Good seats are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office, by calling (401) 724-7300 or by visiting pawsox.com. Radio coverage on 920 AM (WHJJ) and also streaming online begins at 12:50 pm.
