
Three Unearned Runs Haunt Bats in 5-4 Loss

PAWTUCKET, RI.- The Louisville Bats (24-25) lost to the Pawtucket Red Sox (26-24) in game two of the three game series at Pawtucket by the score of 5-4. The Bats had a costly third inning in which they gave up three unearned runs.
Louisville got on the baord first in the second inning after Steve Selsky hit a single with an error, which allowed him to reach second. He was then moved to third base off of a flyout by Eugenio Suarez and then scored off of a groundout RBI by Jermaine Curtis.
The Red Sox wasted no time getting that run back after Allen Craig led off the bottom of the second inning with a homer to tie it back up.
Pawtucket then got three more runs, all of which came after two outs and were unearned, in the bottom of the third. A walk was issued and then an error made by Suarez occured before a three-run homerun by Travis Shaw.
Louisville was able to tie it back up in the sixth after Falu picked up his third hit of the game. Falu was brought in by a single by Selsky. Selsky was then brought in by a two-run homerun by Suarez to tie the game back up.
After a couple of scoreless innings, Pawtucket was able to get a run in the bottom of the 8th. Jackie Bradley Jr. singled and then scored off of a RBI single by Luke Montz to take the lead and secure the win.
Falu led the Bats' offense going 3-for-4. Selsky was 2-for-4 on the night and Suarez was 1-for-4 with his 2 RBI homer. Craig led Pawtucket's offense going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
David Holmberg (3-3) picked up a no decision for the Bats. Holmberg pitched six full innings. He gave up three hits, one earned run, and two walks while striking out two. Jose De La Torre took the loss for the Bats.
Henry Owens (2-3) started the game for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Owens pitched six innings. He gave up seven hits, three earned runs, and one walk while striking out two. Dayan Diaz picked up the win for Pawtucket.
The Bats will play the finale of the three game series against Pawtucket on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Jon Moscot (6-1, 3.35) will start for the Bats. Righty Justin Masterson (2-2, 6.37) is expected to be on the mound for the Pawtucket.
