
Monsters Sign Left Wing Grant Besse to PTO Tryout Contract

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Saturday that the Monsters signed rookie left wing Grant Besse to a 25-game professional tryout (PTO) agreement. In 62 appearances for the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals this season, Besse posted 30-32-62 with 26 penalty minutes and a -3 rating. Besse was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
A 5'10", 174 lb., left-handed native of Plymouth, MN, Besse, 23, supplied 39-58-97 with 36 penalty minutes and a -36 rating in 138 NCAA appearances for the University of Wisconsin spanning four seasons from 2013-17. Besse wore the assistant captain's "A" for the Badgers from 2015-17 during his junior and senior campaigns. In seven USHL appearances for the Omaha Lancers during the 2012-13 season, Besse tallied 4-0-4 with a -3 rating. Prior to his collegiate career, Besse contributed 48-28-76 with 16 penalty minutes and a +45 rating during his senior season at Benilde St. Margaret's School in Minnesota and was named the state's "Mr. Hockey" for the 2012-13 season.
