March 24, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

The set-up

The Belleville Senators will look for success in the second game of a home-and-home with the Toronto Marlies this afternoon.

Belleville (24-37-2-3) were beaten by Toronto Friday night at the Yardmen Arena and in the process, were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Toronto (46-17-1-1) continues to sit atop the AHL standings with the best record in the league as they continue to build for a deep Calder Cup run.

Saturday's game will be the penultimate meeting of the year between the two Ontario sides.

Roster notes

The Senators received a big boost as highly touted goaltender Filip Gustavsson was assigned to Belleville for the remainder of the season.

Newly signed Boston Leier made his Belleville debut Friday.

With Marcus Hogberg starting Saturday, expect to see Danny Taylor in goal this afternoon while Gustavsson still adjusts to North America.

Kyle Flanagan, Mike Blunden, Nick Paul, Andreas Englund and Francis Perron are out for Belleville.

Previous history

Belleville is 2-7-0-1 against the Marlies this season and won just one of six contests at the Yardmen Arena between the two sides. Belleville's lone win in Toronto came on Boxing Day at the Air Canada Centre so they've yet to defeat the Marlies at the Ricoh Coliseum.

Who to watch

Ethan Werek snapped a 20-game pointless streak Friday as he had a goal in the loss to Toronto. Werek had 10 goals and 21 points in 53 games this season.

Adam Brooks had a goal and two assists Friday against Belleville as he continues to round into form ahead of the Calder Cup playoffs. The first year pro has five goals and 13 points in 49 games this year.

Where to watch

Saturday's game starts at 4pm and can be seen live on www.theahl.com through their AHL Live application (subscription required) or at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.
