Albany Devils News Release

Lowell, Mass. - The Lowell Lock Monsters announced that former Boston College LW Ned Havern and G Kris Mayotte have been signed to Professional Try-Out contracts. In addition, LW Cody McLeod and G Tyler Weiman have been reassigned to the San Diego Gulls of the ECHL.

Havern, 23, has spent the majority of his rookie season in the pros playing in the ECHL. He split the year between the Trenton Titans and the Stockton Thunder, totaling 23g-25a-48pts and 40 PIM in 70 games. After a February trade brought him to the West Coast with Stockton, Havern piled up 24 points in 23 games and had a plus-five rating. He finished the regular season as the fourth highest scorer on the Thunder. Havern hails from Arlington, Massachusetts, and was selected by the Dallas Stars in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons at BC, putting up 10g-12a-22pts in 40 games as a senior, his best offensive season in college.

Mayotte, 23, recently turned pro after completing his fourth and final season with Union College. He signed with the Gulls in late March and promptly won his first two career starts, stopping a combined 75 shots in the process. The Pittsburgh native finished his college career with the second highest win total in school history, and established numerous Union records, including lowest goals against average, most saves and most minutes played in a career, as well as shutouts in a season. Mayotte is 2-1-1 in four games with the Gulls.

McLeod, 21, and Weiman, 21, return to the Gulls for the Kelly Cup Playoffs, where they will take on the Fresno Falcons in the opening round on Tuesday. McLeod had an assist in both games over last weekend, and has 4g-5a-9pts in 33 games. He ranks second on the Monsters with 87 penalty minutes this season. Weiman has started eight of the last nine games for the Monsters, and is 6-6-1 on the season with Lowell, with a 2.56 GAA and..913 save percentage. Only Carolina Hurricanes G Cam Ward had a lower GAA this season, putting up a 2.54 during a two game stint in December.

The Monsters return home on Wednesday, April 12th against the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. They have a home-and-home series with the Manchester Monarchs on Friday and Saturday, with Saturday's home game starting at 7:35 p.m. Sunday's game against the Providence Bruins will be the final game of the 2005-06 season, set for a 4:05 p.m. start.
