Moose Release Czuy and Recall Bernier from Columbia

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have released forward Kelly Czuy from his an amateur tryout contract and have recalled forward Marc-Andre Bernier.

Czuy (CHEW-ee), 23, appeared in three games with the Moose during his tryout contract. In 36 games this season at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, the Edmonton, AB native scored seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points and 71 penalty minutes with the Nanooks. Overall, in four seasons at the U of Alaska-Fairbanks, the Edmonton, AB native played in 144 games, scoring 39 goals and 45 assists for 84 points and 269 penalty minutes.

Bernier, 21, has played in 16 games so far his rookie season with the Moose, collecting seven penalty minutes. Following his re-assignment on Dec. 26/05, the Laval, PQ native appeared in 44 games with the Columbia Inferno where he scored six goals and 17 assists for 23 points, along with 34 penalty minutes. In four seasons in the QMJHL with Halifax and Cape Breton, Bernier played in 239 games and scored 83 goals along with 81 assists for 164 points and 141 penalty minutes. He was originally selected in the second round by the Vancouver Canucks with the 60th pick overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
