
Falcons Sign Winer To ATO

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that they have signed goaltender Gabe Winer to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO).
Winer recently finished his collegiate career with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Stoughton, Massachusetts native posted a 2.48 goals against average and a .920 save percetange in 23 games this year with UMass, finishing with a 9-11-1 record. Since finishing the season with UMass, Winer has played in seven games with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL this season. He has earned a 3.66 goals against average and a .910 save percentage during his 2-2-1 season with the Chiefs.
In Winer's four seasons with the Minutemen, he finished his collegiate career with a record of 50-52-10, including five shutouts. He posted a 2.71 goals against average and a .891 save percentage. He was named CCM/Hockey East Player of the Week on November 15, 2004. Winer was selected as the Hockey East Goalie of the Month in January 2004 and was named to the Hockey East Honor Roll eight times throughout the 2003-04 season. During his freshman season at UMass, he was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week twice and Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week once.
The Falcons return to action this week for their final three games when they host Albany on Thursday night at 7:05 PM and Portland on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. Springfield will travel to Portland on Friday night. All games can be heard live on the Falcons Hockey Network, WMAS AM 1450, as "The Voice" of the Falcons John Michael handles the play-by-play duties. All games can also be seen live through the B-2 Network for only $6.00.
