Monsters Fall to Chicago, 4-0
December 27, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Monsters News Release
Sergey Andronov had a hat trick and Jake Allen stopped all 19 shots he saw to help the Chicago Wolves hand the Lake Erie Monsters (14-12-0-3) a 4-0 loss Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena. A crowd of 10,025 was on-hand for the game, which put a halt to the Monsters two-game win streak, four-game winning streak on home ice, and four-game point streak. The Monsters will look to bounce back against the Wolves (16-12-0-2) Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena, with the two teams meeting again at 1:00 PM.
Sami Aittokallio stopped 15 shots for the Monsters in a scoreless first period of action, but Chicago took a lead 18 seconds into the second period when Andronov scored his first goal of the evening, tapping in a loose puck in front of the net following a Keith Aucoin feed. Corey Locke scored at 6:42 of the second period for Chicago to extend their lead to 2-0 through two periods of play.
Andronov added goals at 10:53 and 18:40 of the third period to complete his hat trick.
Aittokallio stopped 33 of 37 shots in net for the Monsters; he is 7-5-1 on the season. Allen stopped 19 of 19 shots in net for Chicago, and is now 13-7-2.
The Monsters and Chicago play at 1:00 PM Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.
