
Abbotsford tops Barons 5-1

Max Reinhart scored a pair of second-period goals and Ben Street had four assists as the Abbotsford Heat beat the Oklahoma City Barons 5-1 on Friday at the Entertainment & Sports Centre in Abbotsford, B.C.
The same two teams meet Saturday in Abbotsford at 9 pm CST.
The Heat, 22-9-1-1, are 3-2-0-0 against the Barons this season as Oklahoma City dropped into a season-high five-game road winless streak with three defeats and two shootout losses in that span. The Barons have dropped two straight and fall to 11-16-0-5.
Abbotsford jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of the first period. Ben Hanowski opened the scoring by tucking a shot into the top corner of the net past Richard Bachman at 4:04 on an assist by Corban Knight.
Knight followed with a power play goal at 9:42 on a rebound after a tremendous save by Bachman on Hanowski, who picked up the primary assist. Street earned the secondary assist.
Oklahoma killed off two of three times short in the game while going 1-for-4 on the power play.
Abbotsford added two more in the second period and for the second straight game Bachman was replaced by Chet Pickard. Reinhart wristed home a shot from the right-wing circle past Bachman's glove side at 1:04 t make it 3-0, assisted by Street and Josh Jooris. Reinhart added another at 12:16 on a breakaway, sprung by Street for his third straight assist.
Bachman (4-7-2) lost to Abbotsford for the first time in his career while stopping 14 of 18 shots. Pickard denied five of six Abbotsford shots. Joni Ortio moved into a tie for the AHL lead in wins by improving to 14-2-0-0 in making 31 saves.
C.J. Stretch ruined Ortio's shutout bid at 6:10 of the third period from the deep slot on the power play, set up by Andrew Miller. Abbotsford closed the scoring on a goal by Jooris from Reinhart and Street at 16:33.
