EL1 Reading Fightin Phils

Monday's Contest in Richmond Suspended

July 26, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Reading Fightin Phils News Release

On Sunday, the R-Phils and Akron Aeros game in Reading was suspended due to rain. On Monday, another suspended game was in the cards - this time, however, it was not due to rain.

With Reading leading Richmond 9-2 after six innings, Monday's opening game was suspended due to a light malfunction. The game, which will be resumed at 6:15 PM on Tuesday night at The Diamond, will be played to its conclusion. Game two of the series will follow upon the completion of the suspended game on Tuesday.

Reading starter J.C. Ramirez tossed six solid innings on Monday and is in-line for his third win of the season. The Nicaraguan native allowed just two runs on five hits in his eighth start of the season for Reading. The 21-year-old righty fanned five and walked just one.

Offensively, Reading RF Timo Perez launched his first home run of the season with the R-Phils in the third inning off Richmond starter David Mixon. Matt Rizzotti had four hits in four at-bats - raising his average to .360 on the season. Every Reading starter, including Ramirez, had at least one hit.

Mike Cisco (2-6, 4.93) gets the nod for Reading in game two on Tuesday. Cisco, a South Carolina native, made his last start for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA), and allowed five runs on eight hits over 6.1 innings. The 23-year-old earned a no-decision, and was optioned back to Reading the next day.

Richmond will send LHP Clayton Tanner (6-6, 3.17) to the hill in game two. Tanner, 22, will look to earn his third-straight win, and continue his success in July. The young lefty is 2-1 with a 2.48 ERA over five starts this month.

Brian Seltzer will have the call beginning with the R-Phils pre-game show at 5:45 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV and readingphillies.com. First pitch is set for 6:15 p.m.
