Harrisburg Senators News Release

Eric Thames and David Cooper combined for six runs batted in, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Harrisburg Senators 8-3 on Monday evening, taking game one of the three-game series between the teams. The game was played in front of 5087 at merchantsauto.com stadium.

The Fisher Cats (60-43) led 7-0 before the Senators (52-51) finally got on the board in the seventh inning. Jesus Valdez scored the first run of the game for the Sens, thanks to a throwing error by Adeiny Hechavarria. An Adam Fox solo home run-his first of the season-in the eighth inning cut it to 7-2, but Hechavarria hit a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the frame to extend the New Hampshire lead back to six. Chris Marrero drove in Marvin Lowrance with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to account for the final scoring of the contest.

Aaron Thompson (4-11) worked three perfect innings for the Sens, but gave up four in the fourth, and ultimately took the loss. B.J. LaMura (4-3) allowed just one hit in six shutout inning to pick up the win. The lone hit against LaMura was a single by Lowrance in the first, after which LaMura retired the final seventeen batters he faced.

The Sens recorded six hits in the game, with Lowrance and Valdez each finishing with a single and a double. Fox and Martinez each had one hit. Zach Dials and Jack Spradlin each pitched two innings in relief, allowing three and one earned run respectively.

Game two of the series is Tuesday evening at 7:05 PM, with LHP John Lannan (1-3, 4.29) taking the mound for the Senators. He opposes RHP Kyle Drabek (9-9, 3.27) of the Fisher Cats, who was the starter for the Eastern Division in the All Star Game. Radio coverage of Tuesday's game begins at 6:45 PM, on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
