New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats gave B.J. LaMura plenty of run support in an 8-3 victory over the Harrisburg Senators in front of 5,087 Monday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. LaMura produced a quality start after New Hampshire surged for seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings, highlighted by Eric Thames (2 for 4, two runs, three RBI) on offense.

The Fisher Cats earned their 60th win of the season in the process. The 2010 campaign marks the fastest to the 60 win mark in franchise history. In 2004, New Hampshire won their 60th on July 30, while in 2009 it took until August 29 to accomplish that feat.

Pitching dominated early as both starters held the opposition scoreless through the first three innings. New Hampshire's LaMura retired 12 of his first 13 batters, only allowing a first inning single to Marvin Lowrance. Harrisburg's Aaron Thompson matched that effort, retiring the side in order in each of the first three innings, including four strikeouts in that span.

New Hampshire (60-43) got to Thompson in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out rally. Travis Snider and Shawn Bowman each singled to set up a Thames two-run triple into the left-center gap. The scoring continued as Adam Loewen walked, followed by a base-clearing double to left by David Cooper (2 for 3, three RBI) to bring the score to 4-0. Thompson had retired the first 14 batters to start the game before allowing six consecutive Fisher Cats to reached base, including a Jonathan Diaz walk.

Thompson (4-11, 5.38) handed the ball over to former Fisher Cats reliever Zach Dials after the fourth. Thompson, who recorded the loss, gave up four runs on four hits, while striking out five and walking two.

The Fisher Cats welcomed Dials back by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth to give New Hampshire the 7-0 advantage. Darin Mastroianni, who reached on a single, was plated on a sacrifice fly by Bowman. Adeiny Hechavarria, who reached on a single up the middle, touched home on a Thames single to right-center. Thames later came around on a RBI base knock by Cooper.

LaMura (4-3, 4.60) recorded the win by keeping Harrisburg (52-51) off the score board through all six of his innings, allowing only one hit, while striking out six and walking one. Harrisburg got on the scoreboard when Jesus Valdez led off the top of the seventh with a double and scored on a throwing error. Adrian Martin gave up another Senators tally in the eighth when Adam Fox hit a homerun on a 1-0 offering. Trystan Magnuson followed in the bullpen, and allowed one run on three hits in the ninth.

Hechavarria went deep in the eighth to extend New Hampshire's lead to 8-2. Hechavarria's opposite field blast was his first of the year, and traveled off the video board on a 1-2 count.

The Fisher Cats continue with the middle game of their three-game set against the Senators Tuesday at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. New Hampshire right-hander Kyle Drabek (9-9, 3.27) faces off against Harrisburg southpaw John Lannan (1-3, 4.29). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:45 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

The first 5,000 fans Tuesday will receive a poster of Ollie, courtesy of Spectrum Marketing. It is also a Kraft Singles Night. Bring a Kraft wrapper to the ticket office to receive a buy-one/ get-one free tickets. For ticket information, visit www.nhfishercats.com or call (603) 641-2005.
