ERIE, Pa - The Altoona Curve plated a total of nine runs in the top of the eighth inning off of three different SeaWolves pitchers and ran away with an 11-2 victory over Erie (AA - Detroit Tigers) on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Highlighting the nine-run, six-hit attack that broke a 2-2 tie was Miles Durham's grand slam and a Yung-Chi Chen two-run blast.

The barrage of runs in the eighth overshadowed the third start of southpaw Jeff Locke's Double-A career which turned out to be his best. Locke struck out nine batters and allowed just two runs on five hits over 6.0 solid innings. The nine punch outs were just one shy of Locke's season high and two short of his career best of 11.

The Altoona Curve (59-42) took an early lead off of righty Brooks Brown in the top of the fifth inning. A Chen RBI double plated Brandon Jones and one batter later, Anthony Norman's RBI single put the Curve up 2-0.

Erie (41-62) would battle back to tie the game off of Locke in the bottom of the sixth. The southpaw recorded two quick outs before he allowed four-straight base runners to reach against him. The last two hitters, Reilly Bishop and Deik Scram, both drove in runs to tie the game at two before the eighth inning outburst.

The Altoona Curve will look for their third straight win on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. when they send RHP Bryan Morris (4-4, 4.78) to the mound against Erie's RHP Bryan Villarreal (0-1, 3.00). Airtime on flagship radio station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliates is 6:35 p.m.
