WEEK IN REVIEW

The Monarchs hosted the Elmira Jackals this past weekend for a two-game series and came away victorious in both contests.

Friday night, Sam Brittain stopped 26-of-27 shots in a 5-1 victory. Rihards Bukarts, Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman, Matt Leitner, Daniel Ciampini, and Daniel Doremus all lit the lamp for the Monarchs, and it was a multi-point night for each goal scorer.

Saturday night, the Monarchs swept the weekend with a 4-2 win for their 6th straight victory, and remain undefeated in the month of December. Ciampini and LaVallee-Smotherman scored for the second night in a row with the other two goals coming from Kevin Morris and Alexx Privitera. Ashton Rome made his Monarchs debut after signing with the team Dec. 15, and tallied an assist in his first game.

WHERE WE STAND

The Monarchs enter the week alone atop of the Eastern Conference for the first time this season with 36 points, one ahead of the Florida Everblades for tops in the East. Manchester also opened their North Division lead over the Adirondack Thunder to three points, and their 17 wins are the most in the Conference.

LEADING THE WAY

Daniel Ciampini tops all Monarchs in points heading into the week with 24 (8g, 16a) in 24 games. Quentin Shore leads the way in goals among active Monarchs with nine, and Daniel Doremus leads the team in assists with 18. Sam Brittain continues to lead the way for the Monarchs in net with 12 wins, a 2.44 GAA, and a .912 save percentage.

WHEELING AND DEELING

The Monarchs head to Wheeling to face the Nailers (12-10-2-0) for the first time this season. The Nailers haven't been able to put things together recently, and have posted a 3-4-0-0 record in the month of December. The Nailers are led in scoring by Kevin Schulze, who has notched 21 points (4g, 17a) in his rookie campaign.

DEFNEDING THE THRONE

The Monarchs are responsible for half of Reading's losses this season, after taking the first five games from their North Division rivals. After dropping a three-game set in Manchester just before Thanksgiving, the Royals ripped-off an eight-game winning streak before losing their last two. Chris McCarthy leads the way with 24 points (11g, 13a) for Reading, but the hottest Royal is Justin Crandall who is riding a six-game point streak (2g, 5a).

SPLITTING JACKS

The Monarchs got back to even in the season series with Elmira after two home wins in this past weekend's series against the Jackals (6-14-4-0), but head to Elmira where they are winless on the year. Sebastien Sylvestre continues to lead the way for the Jackals with 13 points (5g, 8a).
