LAST WEEKEND - Wichita traveled to Allen on Friday night for the first time this season. The Americans broke open a one-goal game with four in the final frame and walked out with a 6-1 victory. The two teams played on Sunday afternoon back in Wichita and Allen claimed a 4-1 victory, scoring twice on the power play and adding an empty netter to seal it with under two minutes left.
THREE'S COMPANY - Jamie Doornbosch has been a pleasant addition to the Wichita line-up since signing on December 7th. He has goals in three-straight games and a four-game point streak. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native has four points (3g, 1a) in five games.
ST. VINCENT - Vincent Arseneau added an assist on Sunday afternoon. He has points in three of his last four games (3g, 3a) and added two fighting majors on Friday night.
SHORTIE - Wichita is second in the league in shorthanded goals scored, recording seven this season. The Thunder have scored two shorthanded goals in a game twice so far this season and are 5-0-0-0 when scoring a shortie.
MAJOR - Wichita teams have been known over the years to have an edge to their game. The Thunder ranks third in the league in penalty minutes (19.64) and have 22 major penalties in 22 games this season.
PLAYING CATCH UP - The Thunder have played the fewest amount of games in the ECHL. Wichita has played just 22 games and only seven of those have been on the road. The month of January will consist of a lot of travel as the Thunder play just four times at INTRUST Bank Arena.
NEXT ON THE LIST - Head Coach Malcolm Cameron is closing in on another milestone. He sits at 328 wins in the ECHL and needs five more victories to pass Frank Anzalone for sixth place all-time.
AHL UPDATE - Jack Rodewald recorded his fifth goal in a Binghamton uniform on Saturday night and it came in dramatic fashion. He potted the overtime game winner to help the Senators knock off Utica by the final of 4-3. Chris Rumble added an assist on Saturday as well and has seven points (1g, 6a) in 17 games. Alex Krushelnyski returned to the BSens line-up after suffering an injury and also recorded an assist on Saturday.
THUNDERBOLTS... Alexis Loiseau and Vincent Arseneau are tied for second in shorthanded goals (2)...Arseneau is tied for third with three shorthanded points...Drew Owsley is tied for 11th in save percentage (.925)...Wichita is 6-1-0-1 when leading after two...Wichita is 5-3-0-0 when tied after one...Wichita is 7-7-0-1 when outshot by its opponent...
