Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs announced today the team has become the presenting sponsor of the newly named, Manchester Monarchs Christmas Holiday Classic, continuing a Manchester high school hockey tradition dating back to 1981. The Holiday Classic will be held at J.F.K. Arena in Manchester from Dec. 26-29.
"We are proud to partner with the Manchester High School Christmas Tournament," Monarchs President, Matt Welch, said. "Many of the players in this tournament grew up as Monarchs fans, so it is fitting to rebrand it as the Manchester Monarchs Christmas Hockey Classic. The tournament is run by a fantastic committee of volunteers, and the Monarchs are happy to help support such a great cause."
The 2016 edition of the tournament will feature Bedford High School, Central High School, Goffstown High School and Memorial High School who will make up the Tafe Division, with Bow High School, Concord High School, Hanover High School and Trinity High School in the McDonough Division.
"The Manchester High School Christmas Tournament Committee is excited that the Manchester Monarchs have agreed to be the tournament's presenting sponsor," Tournament Chairman, Mark Putney, said. "We want to thank the Monarchs for their generous sponsorship and commitment to continuing this wonderful hockey tradition. To have a local professional hockey organization willing to give back to so many high school hockey players across the state is a testament to the Monarchs dedication to support high school hockey."
The round-robin tournament will begin Monday, Dec. 26 (2 p.m.) when Bow takes on Hanover, and will conclude with the Championship game Thursday, Dec. 29 (6 p.m.).
