December 19, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks play their final home game before Christmas tonight when they host the Tulsa Oilers. The Mavericks are 1-0-1 through two games of their current three-game home stand and will earn five of a possible six standings points over the stand with a win tonight.
WHO: Missouri Mavericks (10-11-5) vs. Tulsa Oilers (16-10-2)
WHAT: Season Game #27, Home Game #10.
WHEN: Monday, December 19, 2016 at 7:05 p.m.
WHERE: Silverstein Eye Centers Arena - 19100 E. Valley View Pkwy., Independence, Mo. 64055 . Broadcast carried live on www.missourimavericks.com, Missouri Mavericks mobile app and ECHL.TV. Live gameday Tweeting at @MoMavsGameDay.
The Mavericks are facing the Oilers tonight for the fifth of 11 meetings this season and the third of five at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The Mavericks are 2-1-1 against the Oilers this season after dropping a seven-round shootout, 3-2, on December 10 in Independence. The Mavericks and Oilers have had a tight season series this year with three of their first four games decided by two goals or less. Additionally, the team that has scored first has lost its lead in a game on three different occasions. The only game that bucked those trends was the Mavericks' 10-3 win in Independence on November 5. After tonight, the Mavericks won't see Tulsa at home again until Sunday, March 5.
ONE-TIMER
The Mavericks are 8-for-8 on the PK in their last three home games. After going 4-for-4 against Alaska Saturday night the Mavericks have killed off 22 of the 25 power plays (88%) that they have faced at home this season.
