LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. Iowa (3/15): Newly acquired right wing Alexandre Daigle scored two goals for the Manchester Monarchs but the Iowa Stars shined bright with a 5-2 victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday night. Daigle deflected the first goal off his body and into the net and collected his second goal with a booming slap shot from the point. Left wing Loui Eriksson, left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist (2), right wing Junior Lessard and rookie forward Chris Conner scored for the Stars. Monarchs goaltender Barry Brust was pulled after letting in four goals on 17 shots. Adam Hauser replaced Brust and stopped 13 shots. Stars goaltender Mike Smith earned his 17th win of the season with 28 saves. Manchester went 1-for-3 on the power play. Iowa was 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

Vs. Peoria (3/17): Rookie center Greg Hogeboom jammed in the game-winning overtime goal as the Manchester Monarchs, donned in specialty green jerseys for St. Patrick's Day, charmed their way past the Peoria Rivermen, 2-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Left wing Dany Roussin scored a power play goal to give the Monarchs the lead early in the third period but center Ryan Ramsey evened the score at 10:52 of the final frame. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser earned his 18th win with 33 saves. Rivermen goaltender Gregg Naumenko stopped 26 shots in the loss. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Peoria was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Vs. Lowell (3/18): Left wings Noah Clarke and Dany Roussin scored in the shootout and goaltender Adam Hauser blanked seven-of-eight shooters for the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 shootout victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday afternoon. Right wing Lauri Tukonen tallied the lone Monarchs goal in regulation. Former Monarchs right wing Leon Hayward was the only player from Lowell to score in regulation and in the shootout. Hauser made 21 saves for his 19th victory of the season. Lock Monsters goaltender Tim Weiman stopped 42 Monarchs shots. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

At Lowell (3/19): A flurry of third period goals by center Keith Aucoin, left wing Mark Pandolfo and center Scott Kelman turned into a Lowell Lock Monsters 4-2 victory over the Manchester Monarchs at the Paul E. Tsongas Arena on Sunday evening. Monarchs center Greg Hogeboom scored the only two goals for Manchester. Center David Gove accompanied Aucoin, Pandolfo and Kelman on the scoreboard for the Lock Monsters. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser stopped 39 shots in the loss. Lock Monsters goaltender Tim Weiman made 23 saves in his fourth win of the season. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

3/20/06 - Subway Signing - Defenseman Doug Nolan and goaltender Adam Hauser will be signing autographs at the Subway inside the Super-Wal-Mart in Amherst, New Hampshire on Monday, March 20 from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

3/24/06 - Dancing Christopher - Dancing Christopher will be performing during the first intermission of Friday, March 24th Monarchs game versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Dancing Christopher performs a "Village People" routine on the skates with additional assistance with puppets.

3/24/06 - Union Leader Family Value Packs - Purchase a Family Value Package for the Monarchs/Sound Tigers game on Friday, March 24 through the Monarchs Web site at www.monarchshockey.com. The Family Value Package includes four silver level tickets, four hot dogs or pretzels and four sodas for $44.

3/25/06 - Kids Mini-Stick Night - The first 2,500 kids, 12-and-under, at the Monarchs/Providence Bruins game starting at 7:35 p.m. will receive Monarchs mini-sticks, courtesy of Catholic Medical Center.

3/25/06 - New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Night - Be at the Monarchs/Bruins game as we induct nine new members into the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey. The Monarchs players will wear vintage St. Paul's School jerseys that will be auctioned off during and after the game to benefit the Legends of Hockey organization.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (38-24-2-4, 82 points) are in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the Hartford Wolf Pack (39-20-2-6, 86 points) and the Portland Pirates (42-16-5-3, 92 points).

The Monarchs are only one win away from clinching a spot in the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs.

The club has sent 23 out of their 68 games into overtime and/or a shootout this season, winning 17 out of those 23 games.

Manchester is 10-4 in shootouts and 7-2 in overtime games this season.

The Monarchs were undefeated (4-0-0-0) on Sundays at home during the 2005-06 regular season.

Manchester is undefeated (12-0-0-0) when they score five or more goals.

When the Monarchs score only two goals, the team is 0-9-0-0 on the road and 3-13-0-1 overall.

With special teams, the Monarchs power play is ranked 25th in the League, capitalizing 54 times on 388 opportunities with the man advantage. Ranked eighth in penalty killing, Manchester has given up 67 goals on 409 opportunities.

The Monarchs have not given up a power play goal in their opponents' last 18 opportunities. The last power play goal the Monarchs gave up came on a 5-on-3 penalty kill during the second period of the Monarchs/Binghamton Senators game on March 10.

Manchester has the lowest number of penalty minutes in the AHL with 1064 penalty minutes.

The Monarchs lead the AHL in attendance after 33 home games, averaging 8,604 fans per game.

Newly acquired right wing Alexandre Daigle made his Monarchs debut on Wednesday, March 15 with a pair of goals. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, was loaned to Manchester from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Brendan Bernakevitch on Monday, March 13. Daigle has appeared in 570 NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Wild, collecting 299 points (124-175=299) and 174 penalty minutes. In Daigle's first four games with the Monarchs, he has three points (2-1=3) and a plus/minus of minus-2.

Defenseman Marty Wilford and left wing Noah Clarke lead the Monarchs in scoring with 36 points apiece. Wilford has five goals and a team leading 31 assists while Clarke has 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points.

Center Connor James is ranked third in team scoring with 16 goals and 19 assists for a total of 35 points.

With the departure of right wing Brad Smyth and left wing Jeff Tambellini, right wing Konstantin Pushkarev moves into first in goal scoring for the Monarchs with 18 tallies in his rookie season.

Defenseman Richard Petiot is tied for eighth among AHL rookies and ninth among defensemen with a plus/minus of plus-13. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Daysland, Alberta's plus/minus also leads the Monarchs.

Right wing Petr Kanko is tied for seventh place in the AHL with three shorthanded goals on the season.

Center Greg Hogeboom scored three goals in three games this weekend for the Monarchs, including the game-winner in the Monarchs 2-1 overtime victory against the Peoria Rivermen on Friday, March 17. The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Etobicoke, Ontario, also scored the only two goals in the Monarchs 5-2 loss to the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday, March 19.

Defenseman Richard Seeley surpassed right wing George Parros in all-time Monarchs penalty minutes on Sunday, March 19. Seeley's two-minute hooking penalty gave him 382 penalty minutes, passing Parros' 380 minutes.

With the return of defenseman Joe Rullier last week, the Monarchs also received their all-time games played and penalty minutes leader. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, has played in 272 Monarchs games over the past five seasons (2001-2006) and compiled 815 penalty minutes in those 272 games.

Goaltender Adam Hauser is tied for 11th place among AHL goaltenders with 19 wins and is ranked ninth in the league with a 0.915 save-percentage.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Bovey, Minnesota, leads the league with a shootout record of 7-2 and is ranked 13th with a 2.68 goals-against-average.

On the Monarchs all-time goaltenders list, Hauser leads the pack with 113 games played, 6598:38 minutes played, 58 wins and 14 shutouts in three seasons of play (2003-2006).

Goaltender Barry Brust is ranked seventh in the AHL with a 0.917 save-percentage and is ranked 12th with a 2.65 goals-against-average.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound rookie from Swan River, Manitoba, is tied for 16th place in the league among goaltenders with 17 wins.
