Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose are proud to announce for the seventh consecutive year, they will host "Follow Your Dreams" Aboriginal Youth Day. This year, the day is designed to launch a new suicide prevention hotline for Aboriginal youth. This year's event will take place on Saturday, March 25th when the Moose take on the Milwaukee Admirals at the MTS Centre. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.

This year, the Moose will host over 2,000 Aboriginal youth who will be treated to a video message from Jordin Tootoo, the first inuit player to make the National Hockey League. Jordin is currently on the roster of the Nasvhille Predators. They will also receive a free poster and wristband as part of the launch of the new Aboriginal suicide prevention hotline. Tootoo's older brother, Terrence, took his own life back in August, 2002. The posters and wristbands will include the new toll free phone number which is 1-866-213-2213.

In conjunction with this evening, the RCMP will fly in youth from the remote Northern Manitoba community of Paungassi to enjoy the first professional hockey game for a majority of the children.

The Moose would like to thank the following sponsors for their efforts and contributions towards making this night a success:

- RCMP - Tribal Councils Investment Group

- Province of Manitoba - Red River College

- MTS - Assembly Manitoba Chiefs

- Health Canada - 17 Wing
