Atlanta Asks for Reinforcements

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled left wing RAMZI ABID (RAM-zee a-BID) and center DEREK MacKENZIE from the Chicago Wolves.

ABID leads the Wolves with a career-high 28 goals and 62 points in 63 games. The 25-year-old forward also paces the squad with 15 power-play goals and ranks second with a career-most 34 assists.

The Montreal native has collected two assists and four penalty minutes in four games spanning two stints with Atlanta this year. ABID has tallied 13 goals and 25 points in 53 National Hockey League games with the Phoenix Coyotes (2002-03), Pittsburgh Penguins (2002-2004) and Atlanta (2005-06).

MacKENZIE, the team's captain, has registered 10 goals and 22 points in 36 games with the Wolves this year. He missed 28 contests at the start of the season due to injury.

The 24-year-old forward was recalled by the Thrashers earlier this month, but did not dress. Overall, the Sudbury, Ontario, native has racked up one assist and 12 penalty minutes in 13 games with Atlanta (2001-02 and 2003-04).
