Iowa Chops News Release

TORONTO, ONT - The Iowa Stars concluded their longest consecutive road trip of the season when they made their first visit to Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The road weary Stars were unable to solve goaltender Todd Ford despite firing 32 shots on goal, ultimately falling to the Toronto Marlies, 4-1.

Rookie forward Kyle Brodziak put the Stars ahead 1-0 at the 18:27 mark of the first period, however just :47 seconds later, Alex Foster evened the score at one. Iowa's Toby Petersen extended his points-streak to four games with an assist on the Brodziak goal.

The Marlies Brad Leeb and Brett Engelhardt each potted power-play goals in the second period to give Toronto a 3-1 lead going into the second intermission. With an impressive 13-1 shot advantage, Iowa looked to recapture some of the luck they had on St. Patrick's Day. Unfortunately, Brett Engelhardt had other ideas, scoring his second shorthanded goal in as many games to help seal away the victory. The shorthanded goal was the 11th allowed by Iowa this season.

Toronto goaltender Todd Ford made 31 saves, while Iowa's Mike Smith faced 19 shots in the loss.

Forwards Junior Lessard and Loui Eriksson both has their three-game points-streak snapped. Lessard had three goals and six assists in that span, while Eriksson had two goals and three assists.

Iowa finished their six game road trip with a record of 3-2-0-1, seven points.
