MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed goaltender Jon Quick to an amateur tryout agreement and assigned defenseman Bryan Schmidt to the ECHL's Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Quick, 21, appeared in 36 games with the University of Massachusetts-Amherst this season. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Milford, Connecticut, finished the season with a 19-11-5 record, a 2.13 goals-against-average and a .930 save-percentage. In his two years with UMass-Amherst, Quick played in 53 games and registered a record of 23-21-6, a 2.38 goals-against-average and a .927 save-percentage. Quick was selected by the Kings in the third round (72nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Schmidt, 25, has appeared in 54 games with the Monarchs this season collecting 17 points (5-12=17) and 39 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound native of Bloomington, Minnesota, has played in three games with the Royals this season and recorded two points (1-1=2) and two penalty minutes. Schmidt signed a one-year contract with the Monarchs on September 25, 2006, after graduating from Merrimack College.
