Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves will present defenseman and Glenview native BRIAN FAHEY with the 2007 Tim Breslin Unsung Hero Award before the team battles the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Allstate Arena on Sat., April 7, at 7 p.m. The award recognizes the Wolves player who best typifies Breslin's on-ice spirit and team-first attitude.
Breslin, who was one of the first three players signed by the franchise, passed away on Feb. 9, 2005, due to complications from appendiceal cancer, which is a malignancy of the appendix. The Addison native and Driscoll Catholic High School graduate played five seasons with the team and was a member of the 1998 Turner Cup Championship squad. The Breslin family will be on hand to present FAHEY with the award.
"Brian brings intensity to every shift," said Wolves Head Coach John Anderson, who was at the helm of the 1998 championship squad. "Like Tim, he is the kind of player who maybe isn't in the very upper echelon in skill factor, but his dedication and hard work make up for that."
The 26-year-old blueliner was selected through fan voting on chicagowolves.com from a list of four candidates nominated by the Wolves coaching staff, which included left wing Jordan LaVallee, defenseman Brian Sipotz and last year's winner, center Kevin Doell.
FAHEY, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, has set American Hockey League career highs in every offensive category this season, tallying nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 70 contests during his fourth professional campaign.
