Jaffray Named to AHL Second All-Star Team
April 5, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, are pleased to announce Jason Jaffray has been named to 2006-07 AHL Second All-Star Team.
Jaffray, 25, is in his second full season with the Moose. So far this season, the Olds, AB native is the team leader in scoring with 34 goals, good for seventh in the league in goal scoring. He also has 44 assists for 78 points - all career-highs - which leaves him in sixth in the AHL in overall scoring. Between December 28, 2006 and January 12, 2007, Jaffray set a new Moose record by scoring goals in seven consecutive games. He leads the league with nine game-winning goals which also established a new Manitoba Moose record. He is also just one goal shy of tying the team mark of 16 powerplay goals in a season, held by teammate Lee Goren ('04-05) and Scott Thomas ('98-99). His 15 powerplay goals is tied for seventh in the AHL. Earlier this season, Jaffray was selected to the Canadian All-Stars team at the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic in Toronto where he scored a goal.
In 160 games in two and a half seasons in Manitoba, Jaffray has tallied 50 goals, 83 assists, for 133 points and 133 penalty minutes. He joined the Moose from the Cleveland Barons late in the 2004-05 season. In 197 career AHL games with Norfolk, Wilkes-Barre, Cleveland, and Manitoba, Jaffray has posted 150 points (60 goals, 90 assists) and 156 penalty minutes.
Jaffray becomes the third consecutive member of the Manitoba Moose to be named to a year-end AHL All-Star Team. Goaltender Wade Flaherty was named an AHL Second Team All-Star last season, while Kevin Bieksa was named to the AHL's All-Rookie Team following the 2004-05 seson.
