Three Admirals Named to AHL All-Star Teams

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Norfolk Admirals are pleased to announce that forward Martin St. Pierre has been named to the AHL First All-Star Team and both forward Troy Brouwer and defenseman Dustin Byfuglien have been named to the AHL Second All-Star Team, as voted by AHL players and media in each of the league's 27 member cities.

St. Pierre, 23, is a 5'9", 187-lb. forward from Embrun, Ontario. He is currently re-writing the Norfolk franchise record book, as he has already eclipsed the previous marks for assists and points in a season. St. Pierre currently has 26 goals and 67 assists for 93 points in 60 games. St. Pierre has had a part in nearly one-third (points on 93 of 282 Norfolk goals) of the Admirals' offense this season. He ranks third in the AHL scoring race and has the second-most assists in the league.

In just two seasons with the Admirals, St. Pierre has already ascended to third on the all-time Norfolk scoring list with 166 points (49 goals and 117 assists) in 137 games. He is just nine points away from the all-time scoring lead currently held by Ajay Baines.

Brouwer, 21, is a 6'3", 215-lb. forward from Vancouver, British Columbia. The highest-scoring rookie in Norfolk franchise history, Brouwer has also re-written the franchise record books this season. He is already building on new marks for goals in a season (40) and points by a rookie (78) and has tied the record for power play goals in a season (20). He also established a new franchise-record goal-scoring streak last month by recording a goal in six consecutive games.

Brouwer currently has 40 goals and 38 assists for 78 points in 64 games for the Admirals. He is currently ranked second in the AHL in goals and power play goals (20), is tied for fifth in overall scoring and is tied for third in game-winning goals (7). Among AHL rookies, Brouwer is second in both points and goals and is tied for the lead in game-winning goals. Earlier this week, Brouwer was named the Rbk Hockey/AHL Rookie of the Month for March and was also named to the AHL All-Rookie Team.

Byfuglien, 21, is a 6'3", 254 lb. defenseman from Roseau, Minnesota. He is the top-scoring Admirals defenseman this season, netting 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in 58 games. Byfuglien is just six points shy of tying Marty Wilford for the most points by a defenseman in a single season in Norfolk history. Among AHL defensemen, Byfuglien ranks fourth in scoring, tied for third in goals and tied for third in game-winning goals (5).

The second-year pro is now the second-leading goal scorer (23 goals) and the third-leading point producer (65 points) among defensemen in Norfolk franchise history.

St. Pierre, Brouwer and Byfuglien are the first Admirals ever named to AHL All-Star Teams in the seven-season history of the team. All three played in the AHL All-Star Classic in Toronto this season.

Norfolk and the Chicago Wolves lead the league with three selections apiece among the 12 players on the All-Star squads.

The Admirals will square off against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night at Scope. Friday night is Fan Appreciation Night, with thousands of prizes being given away to the best fans in the American Hockey League. Friday will also feature another STIHL Hometown Hero presentation.
