
Micki DuPont named to American Hockey League's First All-Star team

WILKES-BARRE, PA - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Micki DuPont has been named to the American Hockey League's First All-Star team, it was announced on Thursday by the AHL. All-Star Team members are selected by a vote of AHL players and league media members.
DuPont, 26, has appeared in 72 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, and currently ranks first among AHL defenders with 16 goals and second with 46 points. His 10 power play goals are tied for 23rd overall in the league.
Named the 11th captain in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins history on March 2, DuPont ranks fifth on the team in points (46), tied for fourth in goals (16), tied for third in assists (30) and second in power play goals (10).
DuPont has also appeared in three games with the Pittsburgh Penguins this season, recording one assist and four penalty minutes.
A native of Calgary, DuPont returned to North America this season after spending three seasons suiting up for the Berlin Polar Bears of the Deutsche Eishockey League. Prior to that he split three seasons between the Saint John Flames (AHL), the Calgary Flames (NHL) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).
DuPont was a member of the 2000-01 AHL All-Rookie Team, after recording 29 points (8+21) in 67 regular season games with Saint John. He helped the Flames to a Calder Cup victory against the Penguins in the 2001 postseason, recording 10 points (1+9) in 19 playoff games.
For his AHL career, DuPont has recorded 153 points (44+109) in 274 games with the Penguins and Flames. He ranks eighth on the Penguins' all-time list for scoring among defensemen with 51 points (17+34) in 86 games.
DuPont is the third member of the Penguins to be named to the AHL's First All-Star Team, following in the footsteps of defenseman John Slaney (2000-01) and goaltender Dany Sabourin (2005-06).
