Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-The American Hockey League announced today that Milwaukee Admirals defenseman Sheldon Brookbank has been named a 2007 AHL First-Team All-Star, as voted on by the players and media in the AHL's 27 member cities.

Brookbank currently leads AHL defenseman and is third on the Admirals roster in scoring with 49 points (14g-35a). His 35 assists are also tops among league blueliners, as are his six game-winning goals, two of which have come in overtime. He also picked up a goal and an assist for Team Canada in the 2007 AHL All-Star Classic. The Admirals Captain earned his first NHL recall this season when the Nashville Predators summoned him for a three-game stint in early February where he picked up an assist and 12 penalty minutes.

"Sheldon's success this season has been the direct result of him being named captain and that leadership has helped elevate his game," said Admirals Head Coach Claude Noel. "He has really responded well to that responsibility and we are a better team because of it."

The Lanigan, SASK native is in his second season with the Admirals after helping the team reach the Calder Cup Finals last season. In 2005-06 he posted 35 points (9g-26a), a +4 rating, and lead the team with 232 penalty minutes during the regular season, before recording a goal and eight assists in 21 playoff contests. Brookbank, currently in his sixth professional season, has 28 goals and 93 assists for 121 points and 955 PIMs for three different AHL teams.

The Admirals are back in action this Friday, April 6th at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center when they host the Chicago Wolves. The first 5,000 fans 21-and-over in attendance will receive a pint glass courtesy of the Milwaukee Ale House.
