
Byfuglien, Bickell and Nordqvist Head to Chicago

CHICAGO, Illinois - Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that Chicago has recalled defenseman Dustin Byfuglien and forwards Bryan Bickell and Jonas Nordqvist from the Admirals.
Byfuglien scored a key goal for the Blackhawks in the third period on Tuesday night at Nashville to tie the game at 2-2 as the Blackhawks rallied to defeat the Predators 3-2 in a shootout. Byfuglien returned to Norfolk last night and was in the lineup as the Admirals dropped a 3-1 decision to Wilkes-Barre.
Byfuglien has spent most of this season playing at Norfolk in the American Hockey League. He has appeared in 58 games for the Admirals scoring 15 goals, including 7 on the power play, while adding 27 assists for 42 points with 136 penalty minutes and a +10 rating.
Bryan Bickell, 21, was the Blackhawks' 2nd round pick (41st overall) in the 2004 entry draft. This season, his first as a pro, he has appeared in 45 games for Norfolk scoring 8 goals and adding 15 assists for 23 points with 47 penalty minutes and a +11 rating.
The 6.04, 226-pound winger played his junior hockey at both Ottawa and Windsor in the OHL. His best junior season was last year when he played in 67 games and had 45 goals and 83 points.
Jonas Nordqvist, 24, was the Blackhawks' 2nd round pick (49th overall) in the 2000 entry draft out of Leksand in Sweden. This season at Norfolk, Nordqvist has played in 62 games scoring 14 goals to go along with 24 assists for 38 points and 16 penalty minutes.
The 6.03, 202-pound center has played in several international competitions. In both 1999 and 2000, Nordqvist competed in the U-18 World Junior Championships. In 2001 and 2002, he was a member of the Swedish U-20 World Junior Championship Team. In 2006, Nordqvist played for Team Sweden in the World Championships and appeared in 9 games scoring 2 goals and 4 points.
The Admirals will square off against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night at Scope. Friday night is Fan Appreciation Night, with thousands of prizes being given away to the best fans in the American Hockey League. Friday will also feature another STIHL Hometown Hero presentation.
